Wanted!!! Good Homes to Put My Sign in Front of

If you have talked with anybody that has been trying to purchase a home, you know that there is a tremendous shortage of good homes on the market. The Detroit Free Press recently did an article that stated that the inventory of homes is down 38% from prior years.

And yet, there are still lots of people that are looking to purchase a home. Interest rates are still at historic low levels, the economy is good, and people are coming out in force to purchase homes.

This has resulted in sellers having a lot of showings within days of putting their home on the market, and in many cases receiving multiple offers at the same time. This has created quite the seller’s market. This is especially the case in price ranges that appeal to first time home buyers and with condominiums. So if you have given any thought to selling, please give me a call and I will be happy to take a look at your home and show you what you can expect to sell it for.

My Passion

While helping people buy and sell a home, I generally learn a great deal about them, however, they don’t often know a great deal about me. But I decided to share with you one of my passions.

For the past 12 years, I have been serving as a Board Member to a local foster care, adoption and mentoring non-profit organization called Child Safe Michigan. Located in Royal Oak, as an affiliate of Judson Center, Child Safe works with abused and neglected children and their families who are in the foster care system in Southeast Michigan. In 2016, Child Safe served close to 200 children! One of my responsibilities as a board member is to help spread the word about the important work Child Safe is doing and to tell others what the major needs of the organization are. The greatest need Child Safe has is to find foster parents. A foster parent is someone who opens their heart and their home to a child in need of a safe, loving and temporary place to live. Sometimes the children become available for adoption, and if adoption seems right to your family, foster parents are usually considered first.

If you or anyone you know has interest in becoming a foster parent OR if you have a platform (such as church, book club, place of employment) that could help us teach others about Child Safe, we would love to come speak to a group or do a lunch and learn. Please contact Ashley Hudson at 248-554-6413 or AHudson@childsafemichigan.org. Or go to our website at www.childsafemichigan.org to learn more about this great organization. We are also always looking for mentors that are willing to make a small commitment to some of our foster children.

This started out totally as a grass roots organization and I am very proud of the work that we have done and very proud to be part of this wonderful group.
